Q. What is the AMP Alliance?
A. The Audio Music Partnership ("AMP") Alliance is a community of partners and organizations that support, either directly or indirectly, the use of audio & music technology around the Microsoft family of platforms and technologies. The AMP Alliance web site is designed to meet the following objectives:
- Get our audio & music partners better connected with key Microsoft folks to assist in their design and development needs
- Increase partner awareness of available MSFT resources to assist in development of audio & music related products & applications
- Deeper, more thorough technical enablement to produre compelling, rich user experiences on the Microsoft platforms
- Provide a private forum for members to receive program and platform disclosure information from Microsoft
- Simplify the interaction process with Microsoft and make it easier to work with us
Q. Why is the AMP Alliance important for my organization?
A. The AMP Alliance is driven and populated by the community itself...hence it's value is analogous to the content, discussions, and networking efforts of the individual members. Some specific examples of that value equation for you as a member:
1. Networking: One of the biggest benefits of attending industry events and trade shows is meeting others from the biz, talking about new ideas, and sharing information. This site has been set up as a community networking framework that you can enjoy anytime, anywhere.
2. Content: As a member of the AMP Alliance, you have your very own web location to post any kind of audio/music industry-related content thast you wish. You can raise awareness of new products, blog about your experiences, start discussion topics on new technologies, ask questions to the community, and highlight new developments in the form of case studies. Also, if you already have a site with content, you can simply copy & paste that content into posts on the AMP Alliance site, thus increasing your overall web audience exposure and visibility...and for NO COST!
3. Visibility: The content that members post to the AMP Alliance website is visibile by anyone with an Internet connection...hence, you can benefit not only from visibility to the Alliance itself but also to the rest of the world. Posts in the AMP Alliance are great tools for linking traffic back to your own web properties.
4. Platform Association: Becoming a member of the AMP Alliance gives your organization visibility on a dedicated Microsoft property, which promotes the association of your solutions with the platform that supports it. As we work towards building the AMP Alliance as a brand, we will only get more and more visibility to your organization and solutions
Q. How can I join the AMP Alliance?
A. Simply email us at ampinfo@microsoft.com with your contact information, a brief description of your business or service (or a link to your site), and a request for membership to the Alliance.
If you qualify as a company or organization that is engaged with the audio & music industires around the Microsoft platform(s), we will email you a username and temporary password to get started in building your own presence on the AMP Alliance site.
Q. Once I become a member, then what?
A. The first step is completing your company profile that will be visibile to all members and non-members of the Alliance. This is all done through the Member Settings Page that you have as soon as you become a member of the Alliance. There, you can write up a brief company bio, upload your company logo, create a signature for your posts, and manage your general preference settings for posted content.
You also have a "Member Home Page" which summarizes all the posts you've made, displays your logo and bio, and gives you the link to add posts at your convenience.
